A Prayer for Dissatisfaction in Half a Son

“Even I have set My King upon Zion Mine holy mountain. I will declare the decree: that is, the Lord hath said unto Me, ‘Thou art My son; this day have I begotten Thee. Ask of Me, and I shall give Thee the heathen for Thine inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Thy possession. Thou shalt crush them with a scepter of iron, and break them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ Be wise now therefore, ye kings: be learned ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord in fear, and rejoice in trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and ye perish in the way, when His wrath shall suddenly burn. Blessed are all that trust in Him” (Psalm 2:6-12, Geneva Bible).

The Son is the sole expression of the Father’s love (John 3:16; Romans 5:8; Titus 3:4; 1 John 4:10) and yet the Judge/Warrior-King expressing the Father’s wrath at the same time (John 5:19-30; Acts 10:42,43; 17:30,31; Hebrews 1:8,9; Revelation 19:11-21), without contradiction, tension, or confusion.

Holy Spirit, teach us from Your Word to worship the Father through the Son in the perfect fullness of Your revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ. Make us wholly dissatisfied with anything less!
