“...let the righteous be glad; let
them exult before God; yes, let them rejoice with gladness. Sing to God, sing
praises to His name; lift up a song for Him WHO RIDES THROUGH THE DESERTS,
Whose name is the LORD, and exult before Him. A father of the fatherless and a
judge for the widows, is God in His holy habitation. God makes a home for the
lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity...O God, when You went forth
before Your people...You marched through the wilderness” (Psalm 68:3-7). See
also Deuteronomy 32:13; Isaiah 58:14 for this metaphor.
“Sing to God, O kingdoms of the
earth, sing praises to the Lord, Selah. To Him WHO RIDES UPON THE HIGHEST
HEAVENS, which are from ancient times; behold, He speaks forth with His voice,
a mighty voice. Ascribe strength to God; His majesty is over Israel and His
strength is in the skies. O God, You are awesome from Your sanctuary. The God
of Israel Himself gives strength and power to the people. Blessed be God!”
(68:32-35).
Praise the Desert Rider Who gives
salvation.
Praise the Rider of the Heavens Who
gives strength.
- “The chariots of God are myriads, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness. You have ascended on high, You have led captive Your captives; You have received gifts among men, even among the rebellious also, that the LORD God may dwell there” (68:17,18).
- “But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it says, ‘WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN.’ (Now this expression, ‘He ascended,’ what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.) And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:7-13).
Give thanks to Him, beloved
conquered by the Rider, Who gathers us up in His chariots as they ride the
deserts and the highest heavens, taking us up to the place of His dwelling: the
Church, the fullness of Christ!
